Crude oil prices managed a 1% gain in Friday’s trading while most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded losses for the day.
The gain in crude prices came after U.S. employment data was better than expect. However, despite the 1% gain for the day, crude prices still fell more than 3% on the week because of growing worries about possible U.S. interest rate hikes.
West Texas Intermediate crude rose 96 cents or 1.3% to settle at $76.68 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude gained $1.19 or 1.5% and finished the day at $82.78 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
April natural gas fell 11 cents to $2.43 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Most Oklahoma energy stocks suffered losses including a 4% drop for Mammoth Energy and more than 7% for NGL Energy Partners.
