Energy firm to pay $6.2 million for emissions in New Mexico’s Permian Basin

After EPA flyovers by aircraft in 2019 detected the release of large amounts of emissions in the Permian Basin, a Dallas energy company has agreed to pay a $6.2 million settlement with New Mexico and the federal government.

Matador Production Company’s well pads were caught with the emissions and will pay the fines to the New Mexico Environment Department and the U.S Environmental Protection Agency.

The New Mexico Political Report stated the EPA discoveries involved six of Matador’s well pads.
