Crude oil prices managed a 1% gain in Thursday’s trading while Oklahoma energy stocks made moderate gains for the day. Prices went up as the government revealed U.S. crude stockpiles were lower.
An export halt from Iraq’s Kurdistan region also played a role in the price increase.
West Texas Intermediate crude rose $1.40 or 1.92% to $74.37 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude gained 99 cents or 1.25% and finished at $79.27 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe
May natural gas fell 8 cents to $2.10 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded moderate gains including a more than 3% for PHX Minerals Inc. A few, like Helmerich & Payne dropped 3%.
