Oil futures were flat to lower on Wednesday and Oklahoma energy stocks were about the same as investors continued their worries whether rising interest rates might slow the nation’s economy and cut fuel demand.
West Texas Intermediate crude for March delivery dropped 47 cents or 0.6% to $78.59 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for April delivery fell 20 cents or 0.2% to settle at $85.38 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Mixed—the best word to describe what happened with the trading of Oklahoma energy stocks on Wednesday. Half of those we follow made gains while the other half recorded losses.
Devon Energy took a nearly 11% drop and Helmerich & Payne fell 4%. Slight gains were recorded by Alliance Resource Partners, Empire Petroleum and Unit Corporation.
