Three-week lows were recorded Friday by crude oil prices following word of a strong U.S. jobs market and the result of higher interest rates. Oklahoma energy stocks suffered moderate losses in the trading.
West Texas Intermediate crude fell 3.3% or $2.49 per barrel to settle at $73.39, its lowest mark since Jan. 5 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude tumbled 2.7% or $2.23 to $79.94 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. The fall came after Brent rose to a session high of $84.20.
March natural gas fell 5 cents to $2.41 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Moderate losses were recorded by most Oklahoma energy stocks on Friday with a few exceptions. NGL Energy Partners gained nearly 5% and Matrix Service Co. rose about 4%.
