New Mexico legislators are being asked to make a clean environment a constitutional right.
Two lawmakers filed a resolution to put the issue to a vote of the people in November reported the Albuquerque Journal.
“If there’s a state action that fails to take the air, land and water into account, then a citizen could file a lawsuit asking the court to order the government to do its duty under the constitution,” stated one of the lawmakers.
