Crude made $1 gain in Friday’s trading as OK energy stocks improved too

From the barrel to the pump: the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on prices for petroleum products : Monthly Labor Review: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

A $1 a barrel gain was recorded Friday by crude oil prices and at the same time, most Oklahoma energy stocks made increases too, in some cases 5% and 6%.

Brighter economic prospects in China prompted the crude oil gains because investors believe improvements in the Communist country will mean greater demand for crude.

West Texas Intermediate crude gained 98 cents or 1.2% to finish the day’s trading at $81.31 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Global benchmark Brent crude rose 1.7% on a $1.47 increase to $87.63 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.

The price gains resulted in a weekly 1.8% increase for WTI and 2.8% for Brent crude.

February natural gas fell 10 cents to $3.17 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Some Oklahoma energy stocks rose 6% in Friday’s trading including Empire Petroleum Corp. and Laredo Petroleum which now trades as Vital Energy.
