Crude oil prices held steady with WTI recording a slight drop while Brent crude gained a little in the first day of trading following Christmas Day. Oklahoma energy stocks also made gains.
Crude oil prices hit a three-week high on Tuesday, thanks to the restarting of some U.S. energy plants shut down by the winter storms.
West Texas Intermediate crude finished 3 cents lower to settle at $79.53 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude gained 41 cents or 0.5% and finished at $84.33 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Both benchmarks hit their highest marks since Dec. 5 earlier in the session before settling to their closing prices.
Most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded gains for the first day of trading after Christmas, including Mammoth Energy with a 9% boost and Matrix Service with a 7% increase.
Other energy stocks had gains for the day according to the Texas Energy Report.
