Another drop in crude oil prices. Oklahoma energy stocks slump too.
Crude suffered a 3% fall Monday after U.S. stock markets turned lower and worries grew that the Federal Reserve might implement still more aggressive steps in controlling inflation.
West Texas Intermediate crude for delivery in January dropped $3.05 per barrel to close at $76.93 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for February delivery fell $2.89 and closed at $82.68 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
January natural gas fell 70 cents to $5.58 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Some of the Oklahoma energy stocks felt the pain in Monday’s trading. How about the 9% fall for Laredo Petroleum? Or 6% for Chesapeake and 8% drop for SandRidge Energy and 7% for Ovintiv?
