Part of a county in southeast Missouri is so far out of EPA pollution compliance that a coal-fired power plant will have to cut emissions and an aluminum smelter will have to take steps as well.
The Missouri Independent reported millions will have to be spent by companies in New Madrid County where sulfur dioxide levels are triple the standards of the Environmental Protection Agency.
