As COVID-19 outbreaks only grew worse in China, the anxiety among investors caused a more than $2 drop in crude oil prices on election day. The drop also took some Oklahoma energy prices down as well.
West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery dropped $2.88 or nearly 3% to finish at $88.91 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for delivery in January fell more than 2% or $2.56 a barrel and closed at $95.36 on ICE Futures Europe.
December natural gas fell more than 10% or 80 cents to $6.14 per 1,000 cubic feet.
As for most Oklahoma energy stocks, they suffered losses in Tuesday’s trading while a few made strong gains including NGL Energy Partners at a nearly 7% increase.
A lot of other energy stocks suffered losses for the day according to the Texas Energy Report.
