Monday’s trading brought a drop in crude oil prices and the decline was blamed on expectations of increased U.S. production saddled with weaker economic data in China. But Oklahoma energy stocks ended with a strong trading day.
U.S. benchmark, West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery, dropped $1.37 or 1.6% to $86.53 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark, Brent crude for December delivery, fell 94 cents or nearly 1% to settle at $94.83 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Both benchmarks notched their first monthly gains since May according to Reuters.
December natural gas rose 68 cents to $6.36 per 1,000 cubic feet.
The impact on Oklahoma energy stocks proved to be positive on Monday with Mammoth Energy gaining nearly 7%, Chesapeake Energy up about 5% and Unit Corporation more than 5%.
