While investors anticipate a big jump in central bank interest-rates as an attempt to correct inflation and recession, crude oil prices fell on Monday. Oklahoma energy stocks also recorded a weak day in trading.
West Texas Intermediate crude for October delivery dropped $1.28 to finish the day at $84.45 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for November delivery fell $1.38 and closed at $90.62 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
October natural gas fell 3 cents to $7.72 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Turned out to be a weak day of trading for Oklahoma energy stocks. The biggest drop of the day was nearly 11% by Mammoth Energy while Empire Petroleum’s nearly 2% gain was the largest advance of the day.
