Crude oil prices managed a gain on Friday, despite the warning from the head of the Federal Reserve to expect increased interest rates as the country battles inflation.
Signals from Saudi Arabia that OPEC might cut its output sent the prices upward as West Texas Intermediate crude for October delivery managed a 54-cent gain to finish at $93.06 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for October delivery went up $1.65 to settle at $100.99 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. For the week, Brent managed a 4.4% gain while WTI rose 2.5%.
September natural gas fell 8 cents to $9.30 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks experienced losses for the day while Mammoth Energy gained nearly 6% and Helmerich & Payne went up more than 3%.
