Lawsuit challenges I-35 widening project in Texas

Vehicles travel along Interstate 35 in downtown Austin during the evening rush hour earlier this month. The state transportation department has long been planning to expand the highway, but three Austin-based groups have filed a lawsuit opposing the expansion plans.

 

Just as some residents in central Oklahoma have legally challenged the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority over plans to expand operations with a new turnpike near Norman, some in Texas are doing the same.

The Austin American-Statesman reported three Austin-based groups have filed suit against the Texas Department of Transportation over plans to expand 28 miles of I-35.
