Oil prices continued their climb higher on Friday, raising expectations that perhaps this week will bring even higher prices nationally.
The Friday increase came after OPEC decided to increase production targets by more than planned but with knowledge it won’t add much to global supply.
In the U.S., West Texas Intermediate crude for July delivery shot up $2 to settle at $118.87 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for August delivery bounced up $2.11 and closed at $119.72 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
July natural gas rose 3 cents to $8.52 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Friday proved to be another strong day for some Oklahoma energy stocks including Laredo Petroleum which gained 6% and is trading at more than $100 a share.
