A 20% plunge in the U.S. heating oil contract on Friday caused U.S. oil prices to fall while those overseas managed an increase in the day’s trading.
West Texas Intermediate crude for June delivery fell 67 cents to close at $104.69 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for July delivery went up $1.75 and finished the day at $109.34 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
June natural gas increased 35 cents and settled at $7.24 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Friday’s trading left most Oklahoma energy stocks with losses including a 5% drop for Laredo Petroleum and 4% for Continental Resources.
