Some New Mexico electrical utility customers to see 25% drop in rates

As Oklahomans prepare for potential increases in their utility bills due to requested rate hikes or ratepayer-backed bond packages covering the February 2021 winter storm, guess what’s happening for customers of a northern New Mexico utility?

Their rates will soon be dropping by up to 25%. They are customers of Kit Carson Electric Cooperative and the Santa Fe New Mexican says the plummeting rates will take effect in August or September because the utility decided six years ago to end its working partnership with Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association which provided the bulk of energy supply.
