New jobs, new government contracts and a new industrial park make up some of the news from the Oklahoma Office of Workforce Development.

Bill Hancock, the Business Services & and Rapid Response Coordinator at the Office issued a weekly report on Monday.

A New Industrial Park

OKC Logistics Park, by Flint Development and marketed by Newmark Robinson Park,  will be at 2800 S Council Road, on part of what for years was a Bridgestone/Firestone Dayton Tire factory. It consists of new 1.7 million square feet of speculative  space. (The largest spec space in Oklahoma)

Advanced Call Center Technologies (ACT) to Open a Call Center Services Location in Norman
ACT is a company that provides customer relationship management programs for businesses nationwide is bringing up to 1,000 new jobs to Norman with an expansion into the city. The Norman Economic Development Coalition announced Tuesday that Advanced Call Center Technologies will land in a 51,000-square-foot facility at Norman Business Park, 4.5 miles east of I-35 on Highway 9. The site is expected to be ready by Q4 2022. ACT provides outsourced call center services to the finance, mortgage, telecommunications, healthcare, cable and retail industries, with services like fraud protection and detection, dispute management, customer service, sales and marketing and more. CEO Hunter Croft said ACT has already hired 175 people in the Norman community, and intends to hire an additional 150 employees for new positions over the next two months.

S.A.F.E. awarded maintenance platform contract for U.S. Air Force's fleet  of Boeing KC-135s - Skies Mag

The Boeing Company
BA recently secured a contract for providing horizontal stabilizers for KC-135 jets. The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, Oklahoma City, OK, has awarded the deal. Valued at $122.7 million, the contract is expected to be completed by Apr 30, 2028. Work related to this deal will be carried out in Missouri and Oklahoma.

Gannett

Gannett has announce nationwide layoffs of 320 employees including an undetermined number in Oklahoma. Gannett operates The Oklahoman at Oklahoma.com and the Examiner Enterprise at examiner-enterprise.com. A TAA (Trade Adjustment Assistance) petition has been filed as it appears the Finance & Graphic Design positions are being offshored.

Bus Rapid Transit Approved
EMBARK has gotten final approval from Oklahoma City leaders to move forward on its new Bus Rapid Transit system. The system will be a 9.5-mile loop running from downtown Oklahoma City to Northwest Expressway and Meridian Avenue. The $28 million dollar project will improve transit options for workers.
