For a second consecutive day this week, crude prices fell in Tuesday’s trading following word that Russia and Ukraine again failed to reach a case-fire agreement. Futures were down 1.6% in New York as prices settled around $104 a barrel. Nationally, the price dropped 4%.
West Texas Intermediate crude for May delivery dropped $1.72 and finished the day at $104.24 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude dropped $2.25 and settled at $110.23 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Earlier in the day, WTI futures plunged more than 7% and for a briefly while traded under $100.
April natural gas fell 17 cents $5.34 per 1,000 cubic feet.
The majority of the Oklahoma energy stocks recorded gains for the day including a more than 7% increase for Mammoth Energy. On the other hand, LSB Industries suffered a more than 8% loss for the day.
