Supply chain interruptions are indeed hurting renewables

The recent move by Siemens Gamesa to lay off workers at its wind turbine operations in Hutchinson, Kansas and Iowa was blamed largely on supply chain issues.

A review of how supply chain interruptions (see OK Energy Today) affected other renewables shows it clearly has hurt companies, not only in Kansas and Iowa but across the world.

A story in Quartz shows how renewable energy companies are being dragged down by rising costs for raw materials and prolonged delays in international shipping. In turn, it no doubt is affecting Oklahoma’s wind energy industry.
