Rig growth reported in Oklahoma and the U.S. per Baker Hughes

Rig activity in Oklahoma is growing more according to the latest weekly rig count supplied by Baker Hughes.

The company’s report on Friday showed Oklahoma gained 3 rigs in the past week to reach a total of 53. The state’s oil and gas plays also reflected the growth with the Granite Wash remaining at 5 rigs but the Ardmore Woodford and the Arkoma Woodford each gained one rig. The Ardmore now has one active rig while the Arkoma stands at 2 rigs.

 

The Mississippian play remained at one rig.

Nationally, the rig count increased by 22, according to Baker Hughes and stands at a total of 635. The number of oil rigs jumped by 19 to reach 516 while the number of gas rigs grew by 2 to 118.

The nationwide count is up 238 from a year ago when there were 397 active rigs. Growth included 210 more oil rigs and 28 more gas rigs.

Texas has the highest rig count with a gain of 13 to reach 300. New Mexico was unchanged at 92. North Dakota gained 3 to reach a total of 33 rigs.

The Red Top Rig Report showed Kansas with 39 rigs, a decline of three in the past week.

Colorado stayed at 12 rigs while Louisiana’s number slipped by one to 54 rigs. Wyoming’s numbers remained at 15 while West Virginia slipped by one to 11 rigs. Ohio continued with 12 rigs and Pennsylvania saw a gain of 3 rigs to 24.

The Permian Basin picked up 7 more rigs for a total of 301 while the Williston gained 3 to reach 34. The Cana Woodford stayed at 25 rigs while the Eagle Ford gained 4 to reach 54 rigs. The D-J Basin in Colorado was unchanged at 12 rigs.

The Haynesville stayed at 54 rigs while there was a gain of two rigs for the Marcellus which hit a total of 35.
