A plan proposed by Oklahoma-based conservation bank LPC Conservation won approval from the federal government to help restore populations of the lesser prairie chicken.
Reports indicate the plan, approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will not only allow development of lands in oil and gas drilling regions but also protect the species from extinction. Several energy companies active in the Permian Basin signed onto the plan reported the Carlsbad Current-Argus.
