Increased oil and gas drilling in Oklahoma and US

First Enverus Analytics reported a jump in rig activity and a day later on Friday, Baker Hughes did the same thing, showing an increase in drilling in Oklahoma and across the U.S.

Oklahoma’s count jumped by 2 to reach 48 rigs while nationally, the numbers increased by 3 to 579 active rigs. The number of oil drilling rigs grew by 4 to 475 while the count of gas rigs dropped one to 104.

The U.S. count is 233 more than the 346 rigs reported a year ago and that includes 212 additional oil rigs and 23 more gas rigs.

Oklahoma’s increased count of 48 compares to the 275 in Texas where the count grew by 3 over the past week, reported Baker Hughes.

New Mexico’s numbers slipped by one to 89 rigs while North Dakota was unchanged at 27. Colorado stayed at 12 and Louisiana’s count increased one to 49 rigs. Ohio was constant at 11 rigs while Pennsylvania saw a gain of one to 19 rigs.

West Virginia’s numbers slipped by two to 10 rigs while Wyoming was unchanged at 15. The Red Top Rig Report published by the Independent Oil and Gas Service in Wichita reported the Kansas rig count grew by one to 44.

The Ardmore Woodford in Oklahoma gained one rig to reach a count of one while the Arkoma Woodford was unchanged at 2. The Cana Woodford continued with 25 rigs.

The Permian Basin saw a gain of 2 rigs to 288 while the Eagle Ford stayed at 44 and the Granite Wash in Oklahoma continued with 4 rigs.

The D-J Niobrara was unchanged at 11 while the Haynesville saw an increase of one to 47 rigs. The count in the Marcellus slipped by one to 29. The Utica stayed at 11 and the Williston remained at 27.
