Crude oil prices in the U.S. took a nearly $2 drop in trading on Wednesday and dragged Oklahoma energy stocks down with them.
West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery dropped $1.99 and finished the day at $82.66 in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude, also for December delivery, fell $1.82 to close at $84.58 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Meanwhile, November natural gas went up 32 cents to $6.20 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Otherwise, it was not a good day for trading of Oklahoma energy stocks. Only two firms managed to see gains for the day while companies like Continental Resources dropped nearly 7%, Laredo Petroleum fell 8% and Helmerich & Payne 6%.
