Crude oil climbs closer to $83 but Oklahoma energy stocks sagged Tuesday

Another day–another jump in crude oil prices as US crude hit nearly $79, its highest level since 2014 and Brent futures rose to a three-year high. But the gain in crude prices didn’t provide a lot of fuel for Oklahoma energy stocks.

West Texas Intermediate crude for November delivery went up $1.31 to finish the day at $78.93 a barrel while Brent crude for December delivery increased $1.30 to $82.56 on ICE Futures Europe.

The second day of big increases in crude oil prices came after the OPEC+ producers stock to their planned output increase rather than increasing it any higher.

While crude prices continued their climb, so did natural gas prices. November natural gas rose 54 cents to $6.31 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Tuesday turned out to be something of a weak day for many Oklahoma energy stocks. Unit Corporation managed a 6% gain while Cypress Environmental Partners tumbled more than 10%.
