While the Deep South struggles with recovery and Gulf Coast oil and gas operations wonder when they might resume, crude oil prices recorded gains in Monday’s trading. Oklahoma energy stocks couldn’t maintain last week’s gains.
Global benchmark Brent rose 71 cents or 0.98% to finish the day at $73.41 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. It earlier had a session high of $73.69, the highest mark since Aug. 2.
West Texas Intermediate crude went up 47 cents or 0.68% and settled at $69.21 a barrel.
The increased oil prices came after hundreds of oil production platforms were evacuated ahead of the hurricane and oil production totaling 1.74 million barrels a day was suspended.
Most Oklahoma energy stocks fell in Monday’s trading but NGL Energy Partners stood out as its stock rose more than 13%.
