Volunteer firefighters are battling a coal fire burning in the storage units of a coal-fired power plant near the town of Brush in northern Colorado.
The fire has been burning for a week and according to reports, the blaze involves 23,000 tons of coal in what is described as live storage.
Adding to the difficulty, according to the Fort Morgan Times, a conveyor belt that would be able to remove the coal is inoperable.
