Delayed completions reveal large wells in Oklahoma’s STACK

Completion reports recently filed with the state show more success by companies including Ovintiv striking again in the STACK along with Citizen Energy III LLC. Reports also show how some companies drilled wells in 2019 and last year but didn’t follow through with completion until this year.

Citizen Energy scored at least 2 wells on a single pad with production of 1,178 barrels of oil a day on a Canadian County site.

The Wedman wells, located at 18 11N 6W, 

a site northeast of Union City had production of 729 barrels of oil a day and 1,612 Mcf of natural gas at one well and 449 barrels of oil and 1,286 Mcf of gas from the second well.

The largest well had a December 2020 spud date and drilling finished in February 2021 with completion on March 1, 2021 from a depth of 16,965 feet.

The smaller well also had a December 2020 spud date and drilling was finished in February with completion also on March 1, 2021 from a depth of 17,820 feet.

Ovintiv completed two more large wells in Kingfisher County, each with production of more than 1,000 barrels of oil a day.

The largest well had production of 1,542 barrels of oil a day and 2,558 Mcf of natural gas. The Barton 1709 4h-13xlw is located at 25 17N 9W, a site about 3 miles south of the town of Loyal. It had a March 2020 spud date and drilling was finished in April with completion made in November 2020 from a depth of 19,498 in the Mississippian.

The second Ovintiv well, the Post Brothers 1607 6h-27x had production of 1,181 barrels of oil a day and 4,820 Mcf of natural gas from a depth of 17,848 at a site located at 34 16N 7W on the south side of the city of Kingfisher. It was completed April 28, 2021.

It was actually the third Post Brothers well drilled at the site, making it a three-well operation on a single pad. As OK Energy Today reported on Monday, the first two wells had combined production of more than 2,000 barrels a well. The third well’s production made a combined production of all three wells 3,102 barrels of oil a day.

Continental Resources had recent completions in Grady County. The Galvin 6-27-22-15xhw located at 27 6N 5W had production of 170 barrels of oil a day and 231 Mcf of natural gas. Completion was made in March of this year from a depth of 24,605 feet. The site is northeast of the town of Alex and the well actually had a November 2019 spud date and drilling was finished in December of that year.

The second Galvin well was drilled at 22 6N 5W with an August 2019 spud date. Drilling was finished in September 2019 but completion wasn’t made until April of this year from a depth of 21,595 feet at a site in an adjacent section to the first Galvin well. Production totaled 205 barrels of oil a day and 459 Mcf of natural gas.

Continental also filed completion reports on two Stephens County wells that were completed in July and August 2020 at 5 2N 4W.

One had production of 149 barrels of oil a day and 4,064 Mcf of natural gas while the second Condit well produced 74 barrel of oil a day and 7,102 Mcf of natural gas daily.

XTO Energy Inc. filed reports on a Love County well. The Reed 1-28h21x16, drilled at a depth of 26,968 feet at 28 7S 2E southeast of Mariett had production of 614 barrels of oil a day and 3,963 Mcf of natural gas a day. It was spudded in February 2019 and drilling was finished in June of that year but completion wasn’t made until March 1, 2021.
