Someone apparently has been attempting to scam people out of money by using the name of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission in a phony fund-raising cause.
The Commission issued an announcement Tuesday that false solicitation for donations using the agency’s name had been made for a supposed GoFundMe account.
The account was under the campaign “Help Support James” and used the commission’s logo and a “spoofed OCC email address.”
The Commission announcement asked the public “please do not respond to this request.”
The agency stated that it does not solicit donations through GoFundMe or other crowd-sourcing websites.
