Oklahoma Corporation Commission Meeting Set for Thursday

Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners will hold a regular meeting Thursday morning to first consider their daily signing agenda docket followed by the 24-hour signing agenda docket.

They will also receive status updates from Commission Division Directors including possible updates by Tim Rhodes, Director of Administration and Jim Nelson, Human Resources Manager, as a follow up to the reopening of the OCC offices.

The last topic includes a discussion, possible hearing and possible vote on the motion of CKenergy Electric Cooperative, Inc. and the Association of Electric Cooperatives seeking an Order of the Commission to increase the amount of the supersedeas bond in Cause No. PUD 201800075. This case involves the application of CKenergy Electric Cooperative, Inc., for an Order enjoining Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company from serving or constructing electric facilities to serve or extend retail electric service to an electric consuming facility in violation of the Retail Electric Supplier Certified Territory Act.

In its July 2018 filing, CKenergy argued that if other retail electric suppliers are allowed to reach deep into the certified territory of the cooperative and pluck the very best loads by use of the transmission network, it would have a “very real negative financial and economic impact on rural electric consumers.”

The Mustang company contends OG&E has offered electric service to the OneOK Inc. Binger II Pump station which is in CKenergy’s certified territory. It learned in June 2018 that the new Binger II Pump Station had chosen another retail electric supplier. CKenergy believes OG&E will build a new substation connected to a high-voltage transmission system to serve the pump station. The company has asked the Commission to issue a temporary order requiring OG&E to stop any construction activities for the project. The Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives joined CKenergy in the fight.

The meeting will be livestreamed via Zoom beginning at 9:30 a.m. and remains virtual due to the continuing rules that apply to the COVID-19 pandemic. Remote participation by the public remains available. Any individual interested in providing comment must pre-register to do so.
