Jury returns $222 million verdict against Evergy

The scalding death of two workers at Evergy’s Jeffrey Energy Center power plant at St. Marys, Kansas led a Texas jury to hand down a $222 million verdict this week against the company.

The verdict was reached in Fort Worth where the trial had been moved to hear the case of the steam accident that happened in 2018 according to the Fort Worth Star Telegram.
