Microchip shortage leaves new trucks parked nationwide

The microchip shortage is hitting the auto industry hard. Witness what has happened at auto manufacturing plants across the country and it might explain if there’s a shortage of new pickup trucks at Oklahoma auto dealers.

Thousands of pickup trucks sit idle in massive parking lots awaiting modules before they can be shipped to dealerships across the country.

The Detroit Free Press found a sterling example last weekend along I-71 and the drive to the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. Truck after truck was parked at the Ford Motor Co. Kentucky Truck plant in Louisville. Each needed final parts before they could be shipped for sale.
