President Biden’s number two pick for the Interior Department goes this week before Oklahoma U.S. Sen. James Lankford and others on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
Tommy Beaudreau was nominated for deputy Interior secretary and did not undergo the kind of critical questioning that Interior Secretary Deb Haaland did during her confirmation hearing.
Observers believe Beaudreau will likely get a nod of approval from Lankford and others on the committee. POLITICO reported that he is already a “favorite” of committee Chairman Joe Manchin. Beaudreau even drew words of support from Republican Sen. John Barrasso during his confirmation hearing last month.
