What’s the GRDA up to?

The state capitol news group NonDoc raised questions whether the Grand River Dam Authority might be exploring an expansion of its abilities to sell more electrical power.

On the heels of the GRDA’s recent $1.2 million acquisition of the Honey Creek Resort and Motel, something OK Energy Today reported last week, NonDoc notes the Joint Legislative Task Force on the GRDA recent met in executive session but members did not reveal the topic of discussion.

NonDoc observed how the GRDA has in recent years expanded its operations and for two consecutive years asked legislators to double its bonding capacity to $2.8 billion.

“Does GRDA want to build the infrastructure to sell more water? Does it want to build another power plant to municipally owned utilities in Oklahoma and other states? Is the long-term goal to take on more debt and make the GRDA less enticing for a potential sale in the private sector?” wrote NonDoc.

The task force meets Thursday.
