Metals price hike results in increased thefts of catalytic converters

The nation’s energy industry has seen a jump in—of all things—catalytic converter thefts, thanks to skyrocketing prices of the metals used in the making of the emissions controlling device on cars and trucks.

Thefts tripled in Wichita, Kansas while in St. Louis, Missouri, they were eight times higher last year reported the New York Times.
