Crude edges closer to $51 a barrel and helps some Oklahoma energy stocks
Crude oil futures were up again Tuesday as the overseas market strengthened its hold and pushed closer to the $51 a barrel price.
Brent crude, considered the global benchmark closed at $50.75 for a 1% gain and a 63 cent increase in trading on the ICE Futures Europe. The price is for February delivery.
Here in the states, West Texas Intermediate crude finished up 63 cents to settle at $47.62, a 1.34% gain for the day in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The price is for January delivery.
Natural gas was unchanged at $2.68 per MMBtu.
The increased crude prices bolstered a few energy companies in Oklahoma.
At least two Oklahoma energy companies saw shares increase around 4% in Tuesday’s trading.
LSB Industries closed at $2.78, up 12 cents or 4.51% for the day.
Williams Companies Inc finished the day with an 82 cent jump for a nearly 4% gain to $22.33 per share.
Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. joined the list of those with losses. It dropped 1% or 4 cents per share to finish at $4.95. Blueknight Energy Partners LP saw a one cent increase to $1.76. Chesapeake Energy Corporation fell 12 cents for a nearly 6% drop to $2.06.
Cypress Environmental Partners LP had a two cent increase to $2.59 which resulted in a nearly 1% gain. Devon Energy Corp gained 42 cents for a nearly 3% increase in shares to $15.79.
Enable Midstream Partners LP finished up 13 cents at $5.73 for a gain of more than 2%.
Gulfport Energy Corporation ended at 7 cents for a 1% gain.
Helmerich & Payne, Inc. rose 80 cents for a 3.32% gain to $24.92 per share. Laredo Petroleum Inc was unchanged at $19.51.
Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P. tacked on 49 cents to finish at $46.06 and a 1% gain. Mammoth Energy Services Inc closed down 26 cents for a 6.34% loss to $3.84. Matrix Service Co jumped 13 cents to $9.45 for a more than 1% gain.
NGL Energy Partners LP closed up 7 cents at $2.90 for a 2.47% gain. OGE Energy Corp. rose 25 cents for a 1% gain to $32.33.
ONE Gas Inc added $1.95 to settle at $81.98 and a 2.44% gain.
ONEOK, Inc. settled at $41.31 with a jump of $1.17 and a nearly 3% gain for the day. Ovintiv Inc shares rose 27 cents to close at $14.85 for about a 2% gain. PHX Minerals Inc dropped 4 cents for a nearly 2% decline to $2.04 per share.
SandRidge Energy Inc. was up 5 cents to close at $3.49 for a 1.45% gain. WPX Energy Inc closed at $8.11, up 20 cents for a gain of 2.53%.
Other energy firms had positive gains on Tuesday according to a listing by the Texas Energy Report.
