Questions remain how ExxonMobil’s layoff of 1,900 workers across the U.S. will affect Oklahoma.
Bill Hancock, Business Services and Rapid Response Coordinator for the Oklahoma Office of Workforce Development says the layoffs occurred in back office and production.
“Wilson, Oklahoma (west of Ardmore) has a few people in production. I do not know if they are affected,” he stated in an email notice this week.
Hancock awaits more information about the closings announced by Dine Brands, owner of IHOP and Applebee’s. At least 114 locations will be closed in the next six months. The shutdowns make up about 3% of the company’s locations.
Dine Brands has yet to announce which locations are closing but Oklahoma has many sites of both brands throughout the state.
