Slight interest in drilling for new wells in Oklahoma

There is still some drilling interest in Oklahoma as shown by the few drilling permits issued by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. With only 9 active oil and gas rigs in the state, according to the last Baker Hughes update, any new drilling might be considered significant in light of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Select Exploration Group LLC received a permit to drill at 36 2N 9E in Cimarron County in the Panhandle. The company received the permit for the State of Oklahoma E#3 well to be drilled at a site several miles east of Boise City.

The Duncan Oil Properties Inc. was given a permit for the Doris #2-12 well to be drilled in Custer County at 12 14N 18W. The well is located west of Custer City.

The Marathon Oil Company intends to drill the Ethel Mae 0605#1-4-9MXH well at 33 7N 5W in Grady County.

Rocky Top Energy LLC intends to drill in Rogers County. It received a permit for the Harris SWD #9-10 well to be located at 10 24N 17E. The site is north of Chelsea.

Fourpoint Energy LLC filed 16 more amended completion reports including 14 in Ellis County and two in Roger Mills County.

Each of the reports was an “OCC correction to change classification to oil well.”
