Some telephone changes are coming to Oklahoma. A new area code will soon be created for the state because area code 405 is running out at the end of 2021.
The Oklahoma Corporation Commission voted this week to approve an overlay for the new area code. The North American Numbering Plan Administrator will decide what the new code will be.
But also Oklahomans will also be required in January 2021 that all local calls will require ten digits—the area code and the seven-digit number.
