The impact of the oil and gas exploration in the Permian Basin hasn’t just helped Eastern New Mexico, but the entire state, according to a new study.
For instance, the oil and gas in Eddy County, the heart of the Permian in southeastern New Mexico added more than $1 billion to the state’s school tax and $1.2 billion to its severance tax. Plus, the industry over a six year period added $3.2 billion to education in New Mexico and $1.9 billion to health and human services, according to a report by the Carlsbad Current Argus.
