Another stretch of OKC’s Kilpatrick Turnpike set for partial opening

Motorists will find another stretch of Oklahoma City’s Kilpatrick Turnpike to be open this week as the State Turnpike Authority plans a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday.

The 7.5 million extension from the west side of Oklahoma City at I-40 will reach to state highway 152 or Airport Road into the southwest side of the city.

Not all of the extension will be open. Only the westbound and northbound lanes will be open while the lanes going the opposite direction won’t be open for a few more weeks, according to Joe Echelle, the Turnpike Authority’s assistant director for maintenance, engineering and construction.

A drive on the 7.5 mile stretch will cost 75 cents. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. near the Turnpike and Morgan Road.
