Gasoline prices drop nationally but go up in OKC

After nationwide gasoline prices fell for seven consecutive weeks, prices rose slightly in the past week in Oklahoma City, according to GasBuddy and its daily survey of stations.

Prices went up 3.4 cents a gallon reaching a new city average of $2.24 a gallon with the lowest price of $2.01 a gallon found in GasBuddy’s daily survey of 669 stations. Prices are still 19.4 cents a gallon cheaper than one month ago and 21.3 cents a gallon lower than a year ago.

The national average price of gasoline has fallen 2.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.65/g today. The national average is down 19.2 cents per gallon from a month ago, yet stands 18.7 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

Neighboring areas and their current gas prices:
Tulsa- $2.20/g, up 3.4 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.17/g.
Wichita- $2.25/g, down 4.7 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.30/g.
Oklahoma- $2.34/g, down 3.2 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.37/g.

“For the seventh straight week, the national average price of gasoline has fallen, to a level last seen in March. But just in time for the upcoming holiday, the steak is at high risk of being broken,” said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. “A large refinery explosion in Philadelphia last week may ultimately serve to push gasoline prices higher once we learn more details about how long that facility may be offline.”
