The discovery of an illegal dump site filled with dozens of barrels containing potential toxic materials is under investigation by the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Department and the State Department of Environmental Quality.
The sheriff department’s Environment Investigation team found the site north of Trosper Park on SE 22nd. About 40 barrels of unknown materials were found.
The Department indicated in a twitter announcement that the DEQ took samples to determine what the substance is. They wore haz-mat type suits as well as portable breathing apparatus in the event the material was toxic.
The Sheriff’s office issued a request of the public.
“If you know anything about this dump site or know of other illegal dumping sites in Oklahoma County please call the tip line at 405-713-1977.”
