Worker charged in $100,000 theft of goods from company in OKC

Embezzlement and theft charges have been filed against a 56-year old Norman man who’s accused of stealing aluminum from the company where he worked and selling it to a scrap recycling center.

Charges were filed this week against Michael Fabri, a welder who worked for MD Building Products in Oklahoma City. He allegedly stole more than $100,000 in high-grade aluminum from the company and sold it to Metal Check, the scrap recycler.

Prosecutors say there were 420 such transactions between September 2014 and December 2018. Officials at Metal Check became suspicious and contacted police. How was Fabri able to do it?  He worked alone in the shop and also had access to a fork lift that allowed him to allegedly steal large quantities of the aluminum.

Police report that Fabri admitted to the thefts and explained he used the money to buy drugs and support his household.
