OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma appeals court has rejected a Tulsa businessman’s $500,000 claim against the estate of the late natural gas magnate Aubrey McClendon.
The Court of Civil Appeals ruled Thursday that an Oklahoma County district judge was correct when she dismissed the claim by Thomas Quinn.
Quinn filed a claim alleging he loaned McClendon $500,000 in 1991. The estate rejected the claim, and Judge Patricia Parrish threw out Quinn’s claim last year.
Among other things, the McClendon estate alleged the 1991 promissory note was copied from a template on a celebrity financial adviser’s website that wasn’t created until 2007.
