A Houston oil and gas waste management company has opened a new operation in the Permian Basin.
Milestone Environmental Services announced the operation is 25 miles south of Midland on State Highway 349 on a 20-acre site.
The company is initially accepting drilling wastestreams including water-based mud and oil-based mud along with some completion and production waste. The grand opening isn’t scheduled until Dec. 7 but the facility started receiving shipments from customers in November.
The company hired 18 additional employees to run and support the facility with plans to hire more in the coming months.
Regional Sales Manager Doug Shanks explained the location is close to “a great number of rigs giving our customers the advantage of environmentally-responsible waste management nearby.”
