Boil Order Issued for Some Cleveland County Residents

Residents of the Stonetown Sunnylane Estates Public Water Supply in Cleveland County were warned over the weekend to boil their drinking water because E. coli was confirmed to be in the water.

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality issued the boil order on Friday and said residents would be notified when the water was considered safe for human consumption.

Until then, the residents were urged to use water that had been brought to a full, rolling boil for at least one minute or to use bottled water in food preparation, dishwashing and brushing teeth.

Federal law requires that consumers be notified when a public water supply exceeds certain maximum containment levels and might be harmful to consumers.
