Carter County Considers Energy-Saving Steps

Carter County Commissioners in southern Oklahoma have started an energy review of their buildings and facilities.

A report in the Daily Ardmoreite this week indicated commissioners met and discussed energy-saving steps with OGE and CLEAResult representative Trey Parsons.

CLEAResult offers recommendations and master plans to help organizations and businesses improve their energy efficiency.

But the commission tabled a move to enroll the sheriff’s department and jail in the program. According to the report, the two could receive a $16,000 incentive for making improvements in lighting and switching to LED bulbs.

The county is considering other energy saving steps such as ENERGY STAR cool roofing, lighting controls that sense people in a room, HVAC-DX retrofitting or new construction and even vending machine misers that detects if a customer is at the vending machine.
