Magellan Midstream Partners and one of its Houston based partners are extending the open season on its 50/50 owned BridgeTex Pipeline. Magellan and Plains All American Pipeline are planning to build a new pipeline origin point in Grimes County, Texas. The pipeline already has commitments in place to carry crude oil and condensate.
The companies said they had enough commitment to fund the project, but wanted to give other potential shippers more time. The new deadline is February 15, 2016.
The BridgeTex pipeline currently has a capacity of 300,000 barrels per day to deliver Permian Basin crude oil from Colorado City, Texas, to the Houston Gulf area. If there’s enough demand, the Grimes County origin point will provide about 35,000 barrels per day capacity.
